Midtown Tampa is a new mixed-use development that recently broke ground on a 22-acre plot near I-275 and Dale Mabry. With a whopping 1.8 million square feet, Midtown features housing, retail, executive office buildings, entertainment, and restaurants. Developed by the Bromley Companies, this is the first mixed-use project of its kind in the Tampa Bay area. The unique, urban space will include: 400 apartments, an Element hotel (Managed by Mariott) with over 200 rooms and meeting spaces, 700,000 square feet of office space and 210,000 square feet of retail space. The goal is to have Midtown Tampa completed by early 2021, just in time for the Super Bowl. Midtown will significantly change the landscape of the area. There are several big names associated with the development. This list includes restaurants owned and operated by Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Andrew Weil, and Chris Ponte. Ponte is a James Beard-nominated chef who has trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and cooked with notable chefs around the world. He and his wife co-founded the popular, local restaurant, On Swann.
In an attempt to marry the Westshore and Downtown communities, While the office spaces and restaurants are major attractions, the developers of Midtown have also listened to what the community needs. They’re dedicated to making the development walkable and active.
